What We Do
Timber Wolf Information Network is a nonprofit organization. It is comprised of volunteers from throughout the United States, from all walks of life.
TWIN's commitment to advancing knowledge of wolves through research has grown since our early days. Partnering with universities, wildlife agencies, and local conservation groups, our biologists and trackers have contributed to comprehensive studies that inform wolf management and policy decision.
The primary goal of the organization is education directed to conservation and management of the timber (gray) wolf in the wild to foster a deeper understanding of wolves and their role in the ecosystem.
Learn More About
Our Wolf Workshops
Our winter workshops offer a rare opportunity to explore the world of wolves through both classroom learning and hands-on field experience. Led by TWIN’s expert wolf biologists and veteran trackers, these workshops combine in-depth ecological education with practical tracking skills in the heart of wolf country.
Classroom Experience With Biologists
Our workshop offers an educational class highlighting wolf behavior, conservation, and management in an engaging, interactive setting. From understanding their role as keystone predators to discussing the ongoing challenges in wolf conservation, you will leave with a comprehensive understanding of wolves' place in the ecosystem.
Field Class Adventure In The Woods
Head into the wild with experienced trackers to identify wolf tracks, learn about scent posts, and encounter other native carnivores such as coyotes, foxes, and bobcats. Gain firsthand experience in tracking wolves across the snow-covered landscape.
Winter Predator/Prey Dynamics
Experience firsthand how wolves and other predators navigate and survive the winter environment. You'll learn to identify prey species, adding a layer of understanding to the intricate predator-prey relationships in the wild.
Conservation In Action
By participating in these workshops, you will contribute to the broader wolf monitoring efforts in Wisconsin. It is a unique opportunity to be part of real-world wolf conservation, helping to gather valuable data for future management.
Why Wolves Matter
Wolves are a vital part of the ecosystem, helping to maintain balance by managing prey populations and contributing to a healthy environment. Our work is focused on helping the public see wolves not as threats, but as integral members of Wisconsin’s wildlife community.
