SE: Wolf Hunt appealed

Roughly translated by TWIN Observer

NATURE / TT

The Environmental Protection Agency’s decision on the licensed hunting of wolves is likely to be appealed by environmental organizations.

“In all likelihood we will appeal together with the WWF and the Swedish Society for Predators,” says Oscar Alaric, lawyer for the Society for Nature Conservation.

Wolf hunting is scheduled to begin January 2, but organizations will request that the hunt is stopped until the respective administrative court has decided.

“At the same time, the courts have been quick in the past, our hope is that it will be the same now,” said Alaric.

On Monday afternoon, the Environmental Protection Agency already received an appeal from a private individual, concerning Dalarna and Värmland.

The decision for the licensed hunting of wolves is for a maximum of 46 animals, including 20 in Varmland, 8 in Dalarna and 6 each in Örebro, Västmanland and Gävleborg.
